Why verification failed and how to retry

Common reasons a verification step is rejected and how to fix it and try again.

Last updated June 1, 2026

If a verification step fails, it's usually due to a mismatch or an unclear upload. You can fix the issue and retry.

Common reasons

  • Name mismatch: Your profile name doesn't match your BVN or ID.
  • Blurry or cropped document: The image is unclear or part of the ID is cut off.
  • Failed liveness check: Poor lighting, a covered face or a non-live capture.
  • Expired or invalid ID: The document is out of date or not accepted.
  • Address inconsistency: The address doesn't match your other details.

How to retry

  1. Go to Profile then Verification.
  2. Open the step marked as failed.
  3. Correct the issue — fix details, retake the photo or re-upload a clearer document.
  4. Submit again.

Before you resubmit

  • Make sure your profile name matches your BVN and ID exactly.
  • Use a valid, unexpired document.
  • Capture photos in good lighting with the full document or face visible.

Tip: Review the on-screen reason shown next to the failed step — it tells you exactly what to fix.
